The length of a menstrual cycle can vary month to month and could be affected by stress, weight changes and hormonal fluctuations. If your menstrual cycle changes, so can your ovulation. By using ovulation tests, you’ll know the right time to use the Béa Applicator for the best chances of getting pregnant.

Ovulation tests measure the LH (luteinising hormone) levels in your urine. During a regular menstrual cycle, LH will rise approximately 36 hours before ovulation. In general, if your cycles are regular, you should start ovulation testing 17 days before your next period is due and continue taking them until you have a positive reading. For example, if you have a 28-day cycle – start testing on day 11. If you have a 32-day cycle – start testing on day 15. This can vary depending on what brand of ovulation tests you use, so be sure to read the instructions in advance so you don’t miss a testing day.

Once you have a positive ovulation test you should use the Béa Applicator. If you are using ovulation tests that indicate "high fertility" and "peak fertility" – then you should use the Béa Applicator once you have a "peak fertility" result. Use the second Béa Applicator on the following day.

Here are some common questions we’ve been asked about ovulation testing and using the Béa Applicator:

I don’t think I’ve ovulated this month – what should I do?

It’s possible to have a month without ovulation. If you don’t have a positive ovulation test this month you should save your Béa Applicators for next month and start testing for ovulation after your next period.

What happens if I miss a day of testing?

The key to ovulation testing is consistency. If you miss a day, there’s a risk you might miss your positive result. You should continue testing, as you may be ovulating on a later day. You shouldn’t use the Béa Applicator until you have a positive ovulation test result.

What happens if I don’t test at the same time each day?

It’s best to follow the instructions in your tests about when to test for ovulation. There’s no right or wrong time of day to test, but you should aim to test around the same time each day to avoid any hormone fluctuations in your urine.

Did I miss my ovulation?

It’s possible to have multiple negative tests before you reach peak fertility and have a positive ovulation test result. It’s often recommended to test every day so you don’t miss your positive result.

How many ovulation tests will I need?

This depends on the length of your menstrual cycle, however, you may want to have 5–10 ovulation tests for each cycle.
